Nearly 10 years after "Survivor" sparked a craze, reality tv has launched careers, threatened marriages, and destroyed privacy. A prime example, the recent divorce of Jon and Kate Gosselin. the TLC hit, Jon and Kate plus 8 started in 2007 as a reality show about how Jon and his wife Kate deal with he daily struggles of raising 8 children. Yet in 2009, there have been tabloid allegations of infidelity in his marriage. Jon states the stress from the tv show is not what his signed up for, and recently his relationship with his wife Kate has been so intense that he is "acting out". While till under the limelight, Kate Gosselin must now face to tabloids alone, defending her children by herself. As Jon makes an attempt to keep his life moving wit hhis new girlfriend Hailey. There is an enormous amount of stress and tension on both parts which led to unexplainable behavior as they try to keeps their kids lives as notmal as possible.
Connection:
This article relates to chapter 11, Social-Cognitive Approach, which emphasize the cognitive and social learning aspects of behavior. Represented by Albert Bandurs, he states that personality is the set of behaviors that people acquire through learningand then display in particular situation.
Jon has been restricted by this booming show and his wife so much, that he is now ready for his true "personality" to shine through. Instead of staying behind closed doors Jon and Kate are living their seperate lives as best they can without restrictions. Jon chooses to get a new relationship with someone he connects with while Kate continues to stay with he children and travel, promoting books.
As a fan of the show I have seen the hidden true colors come out and evolve from both sides.
It's sad to trade a family for $10million dollars! Maybe Jon will wake-up and realize he's throwing it all away for what?
