Boy Meets World


Boy Meets World, TV Series, July 14


Cory and Shawn find the answers to an upcoming IQ test in the trash. Shawn sees no point in keeping the answers because the test doesn't count for a grade; but Cory sees it as a way to garner respect from his teachers and classmates.

Things begin to unravel when Mr. Feeny determines that Cory's particular genius would be put to better use at a different school. When a representative from the new school administers a placement test Cory comes clean; realizing that pretending to be someone your not, isn't the way to go. Meanwhile, Eric takes Morgan shopping for a Halloween costume. To everyones surprise, she passes on the princess outfit for an axe-in-the-head zombie costume.

This episode of Boy Meets World connects to chapter 7, IQ Testing. IQ test are used to calculate the norms, it scores out of 100. A number that reflects the degree to which a person's score on an intelligence test differs from the average score of others in his or her age group. This widely used intelligence test can cause great competitiveness among peers.

  1. Very cool! I've never seen this TV series, but it just goes to show how competitive kids (and adults) can be when it comes to showing off their smarts. I'm not sure if I've ever taken an IQ test. Perhaps I'll try. If I do well, I'll brag about it and if I don't I won't tell anyone I ever took it. :> Good Job

  2. I loved watching Boy Meets World! I always wanted to be like Tapanga! Haha, what an incredible name. Anyways, this is very observant of you to relate the TV series to our class. I do remember how Shawn was never too smart, and always slacking when it came to school work. It just goes to show you, anyone can achieve good grades if they only work at it. I have never taken an IQ, but have done quite a few standarized tests. I dislike how these tests put you in a category and assume everyone has the same level of test taking skills.
